Challenge Your Thinking

I Failed at Hiring the First Time I Tried

Misconceptions about ourselves and our business can be detrimental to our success as entrepreneurs. You may not even realize you hold some misconceptions that are holding you back. I want to encourage you to challenge your thinking. Are you keeping a positive attitude? Are you limiting yourself? To be a successful entrepreneur, you need to focus your time and energy on what you excel at and where you can scale up your efforts. These past two years have hit businesses hard and that can be really discouraging. Here I’ll talk about some areas in which you may need to rethink your attitude toward.

  1. Identify Limiting Beliefs – Past failures and setbacks can often result in us putting limits on ourselves and what we are capable of achieving. You can’t get any closer to your goals if you don’t believe they are attainable. Limiting beliefs can leave your business stagnant. Start by telling yourself some positive affirmations. If you tell yourself you can maximize your earnings, you will believe you can and that is the first step to achieving your dreams.
  2. Understand Your Genius Zone – Your genius zone is an amalgamation of multiple elements but ultimately, it is the area of your business where you shine brightest. When you get lost in your work because your skills, passions, and impact are in alignment, you have entered your genius zone. Too many of us are floundering because one of these elements is out of alignment. Maybe you are too focused on your skills rather than your passions. Alternatively, you might be doing something you love but it doesn’t serve your skillset and it’s not making the impact you were hoping for. Finding your genius zone helps you determine your why and will steer your business in the right direction.
  3. Learn to Set Stretch Goals – We often have big dreams when it comes to our businesses. While you don’t want to limit yourself, you do want to be realistic about how you can reach your goals and how long it might take to reach them. You’ll have more motivation to commit to accomplishing a big goal if you break it down into daily actionable tasks.
  4. Delegate and Ask for Help – Many of us who own our own business are fiercely independent. Independence is a great attribute to have but it can undermine your productivity if you are unwilling to reach out for help. Delegation may seem scary at first because it requires trust between you and your collaborator. Once you become comfortable with delegating, you will realize how much time you have freed up for yourself to accomplish even more than you imagined.

Goals earned through working in your genius zone are within reach. You can focus on your genius zone by utilizing extra help. I believe you can do anything you set your mind to, as long as you are patient with yourself and are working consistently towards your goals.
