When Your Business and Vision are Out of Alignment

Share Post:

When you had even the smallest thought of starting your own business, what came to your mind? Did you envision creating your own schedule? Did you see yourself happy to start every work day and excited to share your craft with other people? Or maybe you imagined working with your dream client and really feeling like you’ve made it.

Girl, that is your vision!

Here’s the hitch – some of you were either not very clear on this vision or it’s not as fulfilling as you expected. Now you feel completely lost in your business, not sure what your next move should be. That’s okay! Looks like it’s time for a realignment.

Right now, you’re out of alignment with your vision. Whether that’s because you’ve been spending too much time in areas outside of your genius zone, you feel like you’re always on the clock, or you’re following goals that were set for you and not by you, it’s going to lead to disappointment.

The key to an aligned business is clarity. You can think of it like this: you can’t get what you want if you don’t even know what that is. I’ve had a few clients in this situation. Once I had them think about every detail of an ideal day in their business, it completely changed their trajectory.

You can do the Ideal Day exercise yourself by brainstorming:

  • how your business fits into your personal life
  • your hours and days
  • location
  • how you spend your day
  • systems
  • who you are working with both client and staff-wise
  • how much time you spend on each task

Getting clear on every part of your business will also help you get clear on where you’re out of alignment with your vision. You might realize you need to make a big change or you might find that you just need to tweak a few things.

No matter how much work it will take, you are so close to the business of your dreams. Follow your vision and you’ll always be headed in the right direction.
